RESOLUTION NO. 203 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO-HAMAKUA
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR THE 2015 LAUPAHOEHOE
HEALTH AND SAFETY FAIR.
WHEREAS, the 2015 Laupahoehoe Health and Safety Fair ("Health and Safety Fair") is
a campaign to promote wellness and education, as well as disaster preparedness; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo-Hamakua Community Development Corporation, a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization, in partnership with the Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School
will host the first annual Health and Safety Fair on August 29, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the main goal of the Health and Safety Fair is to focus on healthy lifestyle
choices, health care, and emergency response and management; and
WHEREAS, participants include the UH Hilo Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy,
the UH Hilo School of Nursing, physician organizations, the Hawai`i County Civil Defense
Agency, and the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, events will include the second annual Color Run, swimming activities at
Laupahoehoe pool, various healthy food demonstrations, and disaster preparedness
presentations; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed to help with expenses associated with entertainment,
prizes, travel, and furniture/tent rental; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Hilo-Hamakua Community
Development Corporation for the 2015 Laupahoehoe Health and Safety Fair; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
