Aloha Council. Due to the recent statement by the World Health Organization classifying Roundup as a "probable carcinogen", and many other concerns by citizens, it is imperative that the council mandate a stop to the poisoning of the land. Please cease funding for Roundup and neonicitinoids as they kill bees and poison people. I personally have family members whose health is affected every time the poison truck comes down their street. I am tired of forcing my child to wear shoes (the soles of childrens feet are very absorbent) and stay out of certain areas in the parks because of poison. (Higashihara Park in Kona is sprayed extremely heavily, even right on the toys. themselves). Every Hawaiian child in public school is being poisoned on a regular basis due to herbicide spraying on school grounds. When my father was in Hilo Hospital recently, we couldnt picnic on the grounds due to heavy spray. This culture of poisoning is insidious. Becuase the County and State spray, many citizens now assume. its safe and are spraying thier personal residences. There are many studies that show Roundup is quite dangerous, especially damaging to children and fetuses. From a financial standpoint, the money spent on non toxic weed control-- boiling water, salt, vinegar, et cetera, will probably be considerably less than a slew of class action lawsuits by citizens seeking damages for literal poisoning by a known carcinogen.
