Testimony on Proposed County Budget Date ! 1`,c
Aloha
I would like to offer Testimony on the Proposed County Budget:
1. Around $400K. is planned to be spent on the Hilo Golf Course. Rather than spending almost half $1 M,
wouldn't it be a better use of the County funds to make the golf course private ?
2. Since Waikoloa Village is the top area in the entire State most at risk for Wildfires, can funds be
appropriated to pave the egress road off of Hulu Street ?:This would aid in emergency vehicles entering
the Village and avoid back ups and traffic jams as residents egress:
3. Provide more funding for Waikoloa Village, in particular, but for the entire Island on providing
education and training to residents to be more firewise and to take steps to avoid and minimize the
potential for wildfires. A great resource for this training and education is the Hawaii Wildfire
Management Organization (HWMO).
4. Provide a round about traffic circle at Paniolo and Waikoloa Roads or at least make it a 4 way Stop. This
is a very busy intersection with a high potential for vehicle and pedestrian accidents and injuries.
Thank you for this opportunity to submit Testimony.
Respectively Submitted,
Mark Gordon
