Mr. Paleka is quoted in West Hawaii Today, on the issue of this resolution- "...thisUn-
small matter is just a step in opening the minds to people that, you know what, we
can co -exist with each other on the same soil, in different countries'' (emphasis
added).
It seems to me that this Resolution would, in part, promote division and racism
amongst the people of Hawaii. Whenever are we going to understand that it is far
better to know people by the content of their character, not race not ethnicity.
Samuel P. Huntington's essay on Clash of CiviA.Zataons comments- "The great divisions
among humankind and the dominating source of conflict will be cultural".
A Resolution such as this is another small step towards that end.
