Thursday, December 30, regmding the SGD Kahakai Subdivision.
We are homeowners on 1(akai Place in the Komohana Subdivision, Just one block away from Lako

Street.
We request that the County CounNl require the developers of the SCD Kahakal Subdivlslons to adhere ~ t
the previous plans and requirements that tlxy construct a mauka-tnakai conrtecdng road through fire
subdivision. If that is not required and constructed, residents and their guests from the subdivision of u
more than 100 homes must travel Lako Street and/or Xupuna and Roya} Poinciana streets to access Alli 4
Drive or the proposed Alli Highway. Tra[ftc is already congested at the stoplight at Lako and Queen
Kaahumenu tilghway at peak times. It is in tiro best interest of the I(ahttkal Subdivision and die entire
commtutlty to dlsuibute traffic m severe! mnuka-mekai roads, not justthetwo-I(apuna/lioyel PoDreiene
and Ieko (which has riot yet even been completed). •
In response to the developers concern that a road might be "too steep" to add an additlonal road, our
mauka-makai connectors ~ steep. Roods con be built on steep hills and mountains and many have
been built.

Again, we feel that it is in the best Interest of the future residents of Kahakei Subdivision, their guests
and the community of Kailua-Kona to have as many rnattka-tnakai connecting toads as possible for
public safety and to more evenly dlstrtbute traffic-which is increasittg each year. •
We also understand that tfte developer now wants to build utilities overhead and exposed, contrary to ~
the original plan that placed the utilities underground. We urge that utllitles be underground to help E
preserve Ute beauty and ambiance of our community. this will also make the subdivision more
attractive to potential purchasers.
