Pursuant to section 2-207 of the Hawaii County Code (HCC),we are required to respond to your request for review and recommendation of the subject Bills within a 45-day period. The Environmental Management Commission's(EMC) meeting scheduled for April 22, 2015 was cancelled due to lack of quorum and the EMC will not reconvene until after the 45-day review deadline of May 20,2015, so we will not have the opportunity to comment on these bills. Section 2-207, HCC, provides as follows: "In the event that the commission fails to act within the forty-five-day review period, such inaction shall be considered as an unfavorable recommendation." County of Hawai`i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. I would like to request that the Council provide an extension of the 45-day response deadline or resubmit the referrals of these two bills to EMC to allow the commission to obtain quorum and provide a response to the Council. The commission's next meeting is scheduled for May 27, 2015. cc: Mayor William P.
