Aa a raideat of the Komohana sabdivisior, roeldlrg within 1 block aCLako, Kipana and Royal
Poinciana 8traeU, I feel very strongly that aew traAlc from 120 homes should not be added to our already
congested strsed. I am concerned that in the event of emergeaelea each ae a Are, buaami or humcane that
the hick of aew manka-makai connector atrceta may orwfa trameadoua safety hazards. Royal Poinciana,
and Kipana attests are narrow, 2-lane reskleotial streets that eanaot handle ¦ maaa evaeuatioe already la
our nclghborhaods heknr the Kaakini Highway. Adding 120 new homes without requiting the developer to
band road access from AW Dtive is simply ua-safe and could lead to deaths in the event Dian emergency.
SCD ICahakai LLC Developers ahoald be required to build a mauls-makai acccae road for future
raideaY of their 120IM aabdlvidioo, for safety and the bag term benefit of the aew aubdivieiaa's and
anrroandirg commtaity's bereflt . This should be part of the mat at new residents' homes sad the coat of
doing bwineas for the developer, eat a cost to the county.
Safety a6onld not bs saetiflced for short-term proflta to the developer at the ezpease of the community.
N2: Rea aim 5CD 1Cahalcai LLC ~gye~gp&Es t0 adhere to the initial olaa of underground utilities.
Overhead nN11Nea are a safety and service hazard daring storms, s9 well a9 being uaattractlve and
reducing property wlnn. Underground utilities tare much better is storms, and provide lees interruption la
aerviee to crstomere, as wall a lower maioteaanee. R'e should not forget about the recent traffic accident in
8. Kona which toppled a key ntllity pole, cut power to handreda of resideab and blocked the Mamalahoa
Highway fir seven! hours, keeping people from the hospital, airport and work. Underground atiliNea
would have a0lved thta problem. Agala, short-term proflb for the developer should not supereede wise long
tern planning for safety sad the beneAt of our cammualty.
