RESOLUTION NO. 229 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND
LIONS FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS AND EVENTS TO RAISE
AWARENESS ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN
FAMILY LIFE.
WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
serves and strengthens our community through outreach events, awareness programs, and
community service projects; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation needs funding for educational projects and
events to raise awareness about the effects of alcohol and substance abuse in family life; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control brings together nonprofit organizations,
government, and concerned members of the public to find positive solutions to address the
growing epidemic of alcohol and substance abuse in Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Big Island Lions Foundation for
educational projects and events to raise awareness about the effects of alcohol and substance
abuse in family life; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
