The County of Hawaii Safety Coordinator requests that the speed limit on
the Old Government Main Road which passes through Ookala Village be
reduced from Thirty-five miles per hour to twenty-five miles per hour.
We investigated this request and conclude a speed limit of twenty-five
miles per hour is correct for this section of narrow winding road.
We request that the attached proposed bill of the Hawaii County Code,
Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-255, Schedule 3, (25 mile per hour
limit) be amended.
Section 24-257, Schedule 5, (35 mile per hour limit) need not be amended
since this section of roadway was not included in the Traffic Code.
A map is included for your information and use.
