Furthermore, I am a practicing cattle and sheep rancher, orchard farmer, and land owner. Today I am writing a letter of support for the Soil and Water Conservation Districts on the Island of Hawaii. The reasons for my support are many and large. Unfortunately, as I am late in awareness to these programs' considerations, I will only list what time will permit. In starting, I will say that I am a very busy, progressive -minded, and -purposeful person who loves his island, state, and citizens; as well as its possible futures. The NRCS and the SWCD of Hawaii Island has helped me on many occasions. For example: site plans and engineering; forage evaluation and suggestions; water source evaluation, planning, engineering, and products; innovative and user-friendly informational workshops; information, alignment, and acquisition of farm grants; professional networking with like and possible colleagues; educational experiences and outreach to my students; etc. Basically, there are many more examples of support as well as inter/extra-connections that this program provides. And coming from a very busy young farmer / rancher / land -owner / teacher, I hope that "the -powers -that -be" will know that without this support, it is very likely that other prospects will not be able to, nor want to, replace the current aging farmers as well as become the new and innovative proponents and champions of agriculture. Sorry for the rush, but please see that these programs continue to support an agricultural Hawaii. Sincerely, Robert Kobayashi - Natural Resources Instructor / Rancher / Farmer / Land -Owner 3u V Comm. Quo. __ Ref. ?®: CD 4 Ref. Date
