6 Proposed Resolution to Protect County Home Rule

8 Issue: County legislation aimed at protecting the health and well-being of the local population
9 and of the environment that is being affected by state and federal legislation aimed at overriding
10 county home rule jurisdiction over these matters.

12 Proposed Policy: NACo supports county home rule. Unless contrary to an express federal or
13 State prohibition, county home rule should be respected as the will of the local population, and
14 legislation reducing the home rule authority of counties, including but not limited to zoning and
15 land use, must be opposed.
