RESOLUTION NO. 248 15
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION
OF AN ALL—TERRAIN VEHICLE AND TRAILER TO THE HAWAII FIRE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, The Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation is donating one (1) all-
terrain vehicle and one (1) trailer to the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this equipment, with a combined value of $19,538.08 will provide
enhanced firefighting capabilities and will enable Firefighters to extend and widen
their reach to areas that are difficult to access with pumper apparatus and water
tankers; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai'i County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai`i County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to the Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 1285, Kailua-
Kona, HI 96745, acknowledging this generous donation.
