MEMORANDUM
TO: Merle K. Lai, Chairwoman COUNTY CLERK
COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS COUNTY OF HAWAII
G RECEIVED
g.56 n Hy J i
FROM: Bruce C. McClure, Chief Engineer Da?!11%)
SUBJECT: Ainako-Kaumana Intersection (Comm. 2353)
The installation of traffic signals at the subject intersection, listed
under Increment 2 of the fuel tax resolution, was originally scheduled
for implementation between July 1, 1990 and June 30, 1992.
We are presently working on two other traffic signal projects, the
Kilauea/Kawailani and the Kekuanaoa/Manono signal systems, and are
planning to reschedule the subject intersection to Increment 3 during
the period July 1, 1991 to June 30, 1994.
For the safety of the children at Keiki Land School, the property owner
can construct a three-foot high rock wall within his property. We will
consider the installation of raised sidewalks along all four corners of
the intersection for pedestrian safety when the signal system is
designed.
