We have been in contact with the Hawaii Police Department and have their full support. We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-280, Schedule 28 (No Parking At Anytime) under South Hilo be amended. Date JUL 1 3 1990 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII BILL NO. 299 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983, RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 5, _ section 24-280, schedule 28, subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983, relating to no parking at any time, is amended by adding a new item to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows: "( ) Kalanianaole Street, makai side, beginning at a point four tenths of a mile west of Leleiwi Street and extending three hundred twelve feet in the westerly direction." SECTION 2. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring need not be included. SECTION 3. If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval. The amendment is being proposed in an effort to reduce vandalism and littering along that portion of Kalanianaole Street. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5, Section 24-280, Schedule 28, Subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code of 1983, relating to no -parking at anytime, is amended by adding a new item to be appropriately numbered and to read as -follows: "( ) Kalanianaole Street, makai side, beginning at a point four tenths of a mile west of Leleiwi Street and extending three hundred feet in the westerly direction." Your Committee notes that the proposed "no -parking at anytime" zone is directly across the residence of Councilwoman Lai and further understand that the residents have complained about excessive noise and loitering in the area.
