We appreciate the recent paving of Waianuenue Avenue which leads
to Hilo Hospital. We have heard many favorable comments about this
project and congratulate you and your staff. .
At this time, I wish to apprise you of a 160 -bed long term care
facility which is being planned for construction perhaps toward the end
of this year with completion scheduled in 18 months. Construction of this
facility will add to the busy-ness of Waianuenue Avenue. Even now, a
long line of vehicles find it difficult to enter Kaumana Drive especially in
the morning and afternoon rush hours, and we suggest the installation of
a traffic light.
We do realize the many fiscal demands that are made on the County
but feel that a plan for these traffic lights should begin soon in anticipa-
tion of added traffic.
Thank you for your careful consideration of our requests.
Sincerely,
FredD. Horwitz
