HONORABLE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS
HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL
HAWII COUNTY BUILDING
HILO HI 96720
SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
We have been asked by the Hawaii Police Department to review the existing
35 mile per hour speed along Kaiwiki Road. A speed study was conducted and
we conclude portions of Kaiwiki Road should have a speed limit of 25 miles
per hour due to the residential nature of these areas.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-257,
Schedule 5 under 35 mile per hour limit be amended.
A map illustrating the affected area is attached for your information.
