SUBJECT: Flashing Lights for Stop Sign
Attached please find a bill for a stop sign flashing light for
Wailoa Street at the Kapiolani Street Intersection. The flashing
light will alert motorists of the stop sign at that intersection
thereby preserving the safety of the many children playing in that
area.
Please consider the bill and direct it to the appropriate
committee(s) for discussion and action.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 89-86, RELATING TO PUBLIC
IMPROVEMENTS AND FINANCING THEREOF FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 1989
TO JUNE 30, 1990.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 89-86, as amended, Relating to Public
Improvements and Financing Thereof for the Fiscal Year July 1, 1989
to June 30, 1990, is hereby amended by adding the following project:
Stop Sign Flashing Light for $15,000
Wailoa Street/Kapiolani Street Intersection
SECTION 2. Funds for this project shall be provided from the
Bond Fund Fund Balance.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.

Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred Communication
No. 1351 and its attached Bill No. 214, reports as follows:
Bill No. 214 is a request for $15,000 from the Bond Fund, fund
balance to have a flashing light installed on the stop signs on
Wailoa Road at the intersection of Kapiolani Street. The flashing
light would alert motorists of the stop sign at that intersection and
would preserve the safety of the children playing in that area.
Your Committee on Public Works concurs with the intent and purpose of
Bill No. 214 and recommends its passage on first reading by the full
Council.
