SUBJECT: ILIAHI STREET - NO PARKING PROPOSAL
At its October 24, 1989, meeting the Public Works Committee instructed
this Department to conduct a comprehensive study of the parking and the
traffic circulation pattern in the Puueo District and recommend
mitigative measures to alleviate the neighborhood congestion. The
Department was further directed to conduct public informational hearings
to inform residents of impending traffic modifications and to receive
input and feedback on said revisions.
The Department will conduct the above evaluations and informational
hearings for the Puueo neighborhood. However, it appears to the
Department that the Committee's directive to have the Department perform
such studies and hearings in all cases where parking changes are being
proposed will result in (a) re undant public hearings, and (b) a time-
consuming task of questionable cost -benefits.
Therefore, the Department would prefer to conduct such studies and public
meetings on a case-by-case basis when so instructed by the County Council.
