Subject: I oppose Bill 71
Dear County Council,
I am writing to oppose Bill 71.
This bill, like the anti-GMO bills that have been blocked in the courts, seems like the County is trying to take
over the functions of the State and the federal government. The State Dept. of Health regulates herbicides on a
local level and the federal EPA regulates herbicides on a national level. Why suppose that the county, which
does not have an EPA or a department of health or agriculture, knows something that the State and federal
governments do not? It's not the County's business to regulate herbicides. The sole reason seems to be a feeling
among some activists that the State and federal governments are taken over by evil industry and all their
scientists are collaborating in an elaborate hoax, while only the pure -of -heart activists are telling the truth. This
is nonsense. Please let our county workers continue to use their own judgement on the safest way to control
weeds along our roads. Please do not pass bill 71.
Sincerely,
J. B. Friday
