RESOLUTION NO. 261 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII LGBT
LEGACY FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 3RD
ANNUAL LGBT PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization whose mission is to support, empower, unify, and facilitate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
and Transgender (LGBT) organizations and individuals in Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Pride, a project of the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation,
aims to foster understanding, tolerance, respect,pride, and connection with the diverse LGBT
community throughout Hawai`i Island's general population; and
WHEREAS, by continuing to provide educational programs, events, activities, and a
Pride Parade and Festival, Hawai`i Island Pride will achieve inclusivity, equality, respect, and
awareness of the LGBT community on Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Pride will be conducting their 3rd Annual Pride Parade and
Festival on September 19, 2015, in Hilo, featuring live entertainment, food, crafts from local
merchants, and informational booths from community groups at Mo`oheau Park; and
WHEREAS, financial assistance is needed to defray permit fees and other costs
associated with staging this event; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy
Foundation to assist with expenses related to the 3rd Annual LGBT Pride Parade and Festival;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
