RESOLUTION NO. 265 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE
FIRST JUNIOR POLICE OFFICERS PROGRAM AT PAHOA ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Police Department has established Community Policing to
form a partnership with the community in order to create a safe and secure environment; and
WHEREAS, Community Police Officers are responsible for developing partnerships
within their designated communities through community mobilization, crime prevention efforts,
and problem solving; and
WHEREAS, Community Police Officers also work with Junior Police Officers (JPO) to
provide a safe school environment; and
WHEREAS, Pahoa Elementary School will be introducing their first JPO program
during this 2015-2016 school year; and
WHEREAS, the Community Police Officers in Puna have identified a financial need to
purchase shirts for the Pahoa Elementary School students participating in the JPO program and
to cover expenses related to their first JPO award celebration at the end of the school year; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Hawai`i Police Department to assist with expenses related to the first Junior Police Officers
program at Pahoa Elementary School; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
