Aloha Council,
I strongly OPPOSE Reso 249-15, as it purports false information regarding zero emissions as a
basis for supporting geothermal development on Hawaii Island, among numerous other erroneous
elements in it.
The facts show that just last year, 2 people died, and 12 others were knocked unconscious needing
medical treatment as a result of the emissions released by Puna Geothermal Venture during
Hurricane Iselle.
Furthermore, many area residents of Leilani Estates and nearby communities have been affected
very seriously as well, with miscarriages in humans and animals reported, chronic fatigue and
respiratory issues, and many other medical conditions reported.
It is important to note that County of Hawaii has a fund that has $3.7 million in it to assist with
relocation of those so affected.
Therefore, more geothermal development on Hawaii Island will greatly exacerbate all of the medical
conditions related above, and if in Kona, where it's air quality is already greatly affected by natural
volcanic emissions, it would be most disastrous
PLEASE VOTE NO ON THIS RESOLUTION!!
