Please circulate this to the County Council in reference to Bi11 50, in connection with the
public hearing coming up on Thursday, December 30, regarding the new SCD Kahakai
Subdivision.
We are homeowners on Kekai Place in the Komohana Subdivision and Lako Street runs
adjacent to our backyard.
We request the County Council require the developers of the SCD Kahakai Subdivision to
adhere to the previous plans and requirements to install amauka-makai connector through
their subdivision. If you fail to do this, all the traffic from this subdivision will use either
Lako Street or Kupuna/Royal Poinciana Streets to get to Alii Drive or the new Alii
Highway.
As you know there are a number of new subdivisions planned along the Alii Highway
corridor. Each of these subdivisions should have its own mauka-makai access as it is not
fair or prudent to have all of this traffic funneled through one or two streets.
We realize that the Lako Street connection to Alii Drive must be accomplished and we aze
even ready to go to the expense of completely sealing off our Yazd from Lako Street.
However we feel in the absence of several different mauka-makai connectors Lako Street
will become a "Kuakini Highway" right through our residential area. The disturbance to
the peace and tranquility of our residence and neighborhood would be devastating. We
aze ready to accept our fair shaze of traffic commensurate with our neighborhood setting,
but we cannot accept the total load-
We appreciate your serious consideration of our request.
