HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0187.059 1998-2000 30 December 1999 RECEIVED ~ To: Council Chairman James Arakaki nme._._.._.._...,.._...By..___ - Council Members ~ara~___._:_:....:_....__ County Gouncill~ Re: SCD Kahakai LLC's zoning ordinance Thanks to Council members Curtis Tyler, Nancy Pissichio, Dominic Yagong and Julie Jacobson for supporting our community's concerns for safe and sane zoning. Please put the needs and wants of ALL of Kona's community first, not the needs of a developer nor the few residents who will reside in the development. Most important in planning is that we provide mauka makai roads. The original bill over 10 years ago provided for such. Over time, the council has lost sight of the wisdom of our predecessors. Now you want to allow a developer to NOT meet a basic safety issue that will serve the entire Kona community? We feel deeply concerned that you heaz our needs and that you provide for our community's safety. Require that mauka-makai road be provided by the developer. Of other issues as land being set aside for later decisions versus a designated pazk, that is just avoiding responsible planning now. Again, a few will decide. If a heiau is enclosed in a gated community, how can you say that the public at lazge has unhindered access to a historical site? Pleas. ere to wise, responsible decisions for Kona's community. p ~<<''~ ~ ~ ~~lC~~.~ Comm.
