Meeting was called to order at 11:20 AM by Albert Ledergerber, Pres.
President's message: Albert welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming.
Invitations had been mailed to 400 members, former members, employees of Ka'u
Agribusiness and 100 were given to senior citizens and people not included in the
mailings.
He then outlined the following projects and programs that Huliau is involved in or has planned.
1] -Summer Youth Program - "Ho'omana After School Program" funded by Hawari
Behavioural Health and under the direction of Elston Takayama.
2] -The `Experimental Farm' imgation project with trickle and overhead systems.
3] - MIItA[Managing Information with Rural America]- Rural Roots Project sponsored by
Kellogg Foundation. Na'alehu/Pahalatearn will receive $25,000 for computers,
classes, and link-up between the two centers. [Kellogg Foundation: $15,000, Atherton
Family Foundation $3,000, Kellogg CSO $5,000, Huliau $1,000 + Mac $1,000.]
Total $25,000. This project of `Networking Vital Community' is to be completed by
the end of August.
4] -County R&D - $10,000 for miscellanous Huliau projects.
