RESOLUTION NO. 273 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII
ISLAND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD, INC., FOR EDUCATIONAL FIELD
TRIPS TO `IMILOA ASTRONOMY CENTER OF HAWAII FOR STUDENTS IN THE
PUNA DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Economic Development Board, Inc., (HIEDB) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides quality mental health and substance abuse
treatment services that are culturally appropriate to Hawai`i Island adults, adolescents, and
children; and
WHEREAS, HIEDB is requesting funding assistance for educational field trips to
`Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai`i for students in the Puna district; and
WHEREAS, HIEDB will support these educational activities through a partnership with
the `Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai`i during the 2015-2016 academic year; and
WHEREAS, the field trips will assist students in grade levels 3 through 9 for schools
located in the Puna district; and
WHEREAS, funds will be used to cover costs for program supplies, travel expenses, and
admission; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island Economic
Development Board, Inc., for field trips to `Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai`i for students in
the Puna district; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
