Subject: Testimony in favor of Resolution 121-15
My name is Mel Macy and I am the chairman of the Waimea District Park Builders. Our group has been working
on the Waimea District Park Project for several years. We worked closely Nvith the County Department of Parks
and Rec., a hired planner consultant, Parker Ranch and the community to find the best location to build the much
needed District Park.
On three separate occasions, over a period of 8 years, the County Council approved funding for the planning,
design/engineering and construction of phase 1a of the project. Parker Ranch is donating the acreage referred to in
Res. 121-15 as part of zoning requirement.
"1_he design and engineering of the project is complete and construction of the project is set to go out for bid in
April 2015. Accepting the dedication of Lot 4 and drainage easement via Resolution 121-15 is one of the final steps
in completing the land transfer. Once the land is in the hands of the County of Hawaii construction can begun.
I know I speak for the Waimea District Park Builders and the entire community when I humbly ask for your
support and yes vote on Res. 121-15.
