DEDICATION OF LAND FROM PARKER RANCH FOR
WAIMEA DISTRICT PARK

Many of us in Waimea, have been working to provide a District Park
for our community. From the mid 1990s, when S. Kalani Schutte was
Council Chair, we knew that our growing community needed
recreational facilities for our children, as well as our adults and
seniors. On any given day, our existing park is overused with
multiple sports activities. With the completion of the skate park,
usage of this facility has increased dramatically.
Along with lands that Parker Ranch has provided for the Trails and
Greenways, project, our community has an opportunity to accept
additional lands, in the middle of Waimea Town Center for this
community need. Please approve this resolution, accept the transfer
of these lands and move our much needed park forward, so that our
children and grandchildren will have a safe environment to becoming
healthy and energetic members of our South Kohala community.
