Subject: Support for Resolution 266-15
Members of the Hawaii County Council:
I am writing to support Resolution 266-15 requesting that Hawaii's Congressional delegation support a Constitutional
amendment clarifying that Corporations are not people with Constitutional right, and that unlimited campaign spending
is not free speech.
Although the Hawaii Council passed a somewhat similar resolution previously, it is important to strengthen your
previous position, because many of the various resolutions introduced in Congress do not clearly include both of the
components of this resolution. For that reason, continued pressure on Congress is necessary, specifying what such a
Constitutional amendment should include. It would be a pity for states to waste time trying to pass an amendment that
did not fully deal with the problems created by the US Supreme Court's decisions.
Thank you for considering this resolution. I urge you to pass it.
