RESOLUTION NO. 282 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA COFFEE
FESTIVAL FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 45TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF
KONA COFFEE.
WHEREAS, the Kona Coffee Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and since its
inception in 1970, it has sought to preserve,perpetuate, and promote Kona's nearly 200-year
coffee heritage; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival is the oldest and most successful food
festival on Hawai`i Island that honors the cultural heritage and recognizes the accomplishments
of Kona's coffee pioneers, farmers, and artisans; and
WHEREAS, the 2015 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival is scheduled for November 6-15
and will showcase a historical depiction of the story "Kipuka,"which portrays the "Kona way of
life"; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed for miscellaneous materials and supplies as well as travel
expenses for presenters during the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the nonprofit organization, Kona
Coffee Festival, for miscellaneous materials and supplies as well as travel expenses for the
presenters; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
