ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 4, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY
CODE, 1993 EDITION, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER'S
LICENSING FEES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, Article 4, Section 24-20, of the Hawaii County Code, 1993
Edition, relating to motor vehicle driver's permit and license fees, is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 24-20. Motor vehicle driver's permit and license fees.
The following fees are established for the application and renewal of motor
vehicle instruction permits and driver's licenses:
(a) Application for instruction permit, [$5] $10.
(b) Application driver's license or out -of -[State] state transfer:
(1) Application for driver's license (not chargeable if applicant presents
evidence of having paid to Hawaii County the application for instruction
permit fee), $1.
(2) Application for out -of -[State] state transfer with a valid out -of -[State]
state license, $4.
(c) Reinstatement fee (payable upon the restoration of any license which has been
suspended), $20.
(d) Driver's license valid for two years, $6.
(e) Renewal of driver's license valid for two years, $6.
(f) Driver's license valid for four years, $12.
(g) Renewal of driver's license valid for four years, $12.
(h) [Duplicate license, $5.] Driver's license valid for six years. $18.
(i) [Road Test fees (categories 1,2, and 3), $5; (category 4), $50.] Renewal of
driver's license valid for six years. $18.
(j) Reactivation fee for each 30 -day period after the 90 -day grace Period for renewal
within one year of expiration. $5.
(k) Duplicate license. $5.
(1) Road Test fees (categories 1 2 and 3) $5: (category 4). $50."
SECTION 2. Material to be deleted is bracketed. New material is underscored. In
printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 3. If any provisions of this ordinance or the application thereof to any
persons or circumstances is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provisions or
application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
