RESOLUTION NO. 302 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LA`I`OPUA 2020 FOR
THE 2016 PRINCE KUHIO HO`OLAULE`A.
WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes unity
by establishing social, educational, recreational, medical, and cultural services, programs, and
infrastructure that assist the residents of Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, the 2016 Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a will be an alcohol- and drug-free event
scheduled for March 26, 2016, at the West Hawai`i Community Health Center and La`i`Opua
Community Center to honor the legacy of Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana`ole Pi`ikoi, the first
royal native Hawaiian delegate to the United States Congress; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to La`i`Opua 2020 for expenses associated
with the 2016 Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
