RESOLUTION NO. 303 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII
VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC.,
TO PURCHASE OUTDOOR FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE WEST
HAWAII VETERANS CEMETERY.
WHEREAS, the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion
Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran
organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that represent a large portion of our community;
and
WHEREAS, when the WHVCDEA was formed, it took over maintenance of the West
Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery from the County and has since spearheaded numerous projects to
improve and beautify the area; and
WHEREAS, WHVCDEA also helps with burial services and memorial events and is
requesting funds to purchase tables, storage sheds, shade canopy, and chairs for the West
Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the WHVCDEA to purchase
outdoor furniture and equipment for the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
