RESOLUTION NO. 306 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ROTARY
DISTRICT 5000 FOUNDATION TO SEND PUNA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO THE
ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS CAMP.
WHEREAS, the Rotary District 5000 Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that supports the charitable efforts of Rotary clubs in the State of Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary District 5000 Foundation supports the activities of the Rotary
Club of Pahoa Sunset; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset each year reviews applications and selects
students in grades 10 and 11 from Puna schools to attend a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Camp at no cost to the students; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp is an intense coed training and
development program that develops leadership skills in youths who apply and are chosen to
attend by each of the nine Rotary clubs on Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset is requesting funds to send Puna high
school students to attend the next Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp scheduled for
February 26-28, 2016, at Kilauea Military Camp; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Rotary District 5000 Foundation
to allow high school students from Puna to attend the next Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Camp; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
