These federally-derived funds of$360,000 will be used to purchase specialized equipment to enhance the capability of state and county agencies to prevent and respond to incidents of terrorism and other hazards. $400,000 has already been appropriated for this grant. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating an additional $360,000 to the Department's State Homeland Security Program for FY 2015 account, bringing the total grant appropriation to $760,000. Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action.
