Aloha councilmembers,
I strongly support Council woman Wille's efforts to try to right the wrongs done by our mayor even if it is only symbolic. The
least this body can do is "reprimand" him for his incredible lack of transparency and honesty in handling his office and
taxpayer funds. His lack of integrity has increased the public's displeasure with and distance from their democracy.
Besides being a lawyer who knows far better than to do what he did, and besides repeating his transgression again and again
and again to the tune of huge amounts of money, Mayor Kenoi chose to abuse the public's trust for no reason other than
personal aggrandizement, including spending hundreds of dollars at a "hostess" bar. This is not pono.
This is not the kind of leadership our county needs nor should accept. Despite the good he's done, Mayor Kenoi provides an
unacceptably poor example of what a democratic leader should look like in terms of integrity. Allowing him to go unpunished
sours our system of government, most importantly, in the eyes of our keiki.
This is not a personal vendetta or personal issue. It's a matter of public trust and maintaining the sanctity of democracy.
Mahalo for standing strong to protect the integrity and value of our system of government by supporting Councilwoman
Wille's resolution.
Sincerely,
Janice palma-glennie
