Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 93, reports as follows:
Bill No. 93, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi via Communication No. 473 dated September 16,
2015, amends Section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo Area Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of
the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), by changing the district classification from Agricultural
—20 Acres (A-20a) to Family Agricultural—Three Acres (FA-3a) at Kaumana Homesteads, South Hilo,
Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-5-003:024. The applicants are Mark and Kim Rodrigues, and the
subject parcel covers 25.003 acres. The applicants, who live on the subject parcel, would like to
subdivide the property into five parcels, reserving one lot for themselves and conveying at least one lot
each to their three children. The size of each lot would average more than 4 acres.
The Windward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on September 3, 2015,
recommended approval of this item.
Mr. Paleka expressed his support of the bill, and urged his colleague's support.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 93, and recommends
passage on first reading.
