Council Testimony
Bill 90, Draft 3
I am offering testimony in strong support of Bill 90, Draft 3.
As a representative of the community group Ka Makani O Kohala Ohana -- Kako'o I have
been actively involved in preserving coastal open space on our island for almost 30
years. I have also represented the five community groups from North Kohala that have
nominated lands to the open space priority list since it was started in 2006.
The Bill 90 before you is a good fix for some of the problems of implementation that
have been experienced by the Finance Department and Department of Parks and
Recreation since the original charter amendments for Open Space and Maintenance Fund
were written. Fixing these problems will go a long way to making the process of
preserving our most important lands run smoothly.
Please vote for Bill 90, Draft 3.
