Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year,
for a new multi-year lease agreement of one multi-function copy machine for the
Department of Research and Development. The copier being replaced was purchased in
2005 and is obsolete. The estimated lease cost is approximately $1,545 per year.
The Department of Research and Development requests that this resolution be waived
from the Finance Committee and be placed on the November 4, 2015 Council Agenda
because their current copy machine is not working. If there are any questions, please do
not hesitate to call Lois Nishida of the Department of Research and Development at 961-
8584.

A. REQUEST:
Authorize a five (5) year lease agreement for one (1) black and white multifunction copier for the Department
of Research and Development's Kona office. Requesting to waive Finance Committee.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Current multifunction copier was purchased in 2005 by Mass Transit and utilized by both departments at the
Lanihau Professional Office Building. Mass Transit transferred the multifunction copier to R&D in November
2011 and R & D continued to use this machine at our West Hawaii Civic Center office. Unit is obsolete,
increasingly in need of repair, and currently not working. Lease cost not to exceed $1,545 per year. Funds
for the lease are provided in department's current budget.

RE: Resolution No. 322-15 : RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS
OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A
MULTI-YEAR LEASE FOR ONE (1) MULTI-FUNCTION COPY MACHINE FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
