RESOLUTION NO. 324 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `AHA PUNANA LEO,
INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO `OHANA NIGHTS AT KE KULA
'0 NAWAHIOKALANI`OPU`U CHARTER SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, `Aha Punana Leo, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that initiates,
provides for, and nurtures various Hawaiian language environments; and
WHEREAS, as part of its mission to serve the Hawaiian language community, `Aha
Punana Leo, Inc., supports and partners with Ke Kula '0 Nawahiokalani'opu'u charter school;
and
WHEREAS, Ke Kula '0 Nawahiokalani`opu`u, a Hawaiian language charter school
located in Kea'au, hosts weekly `ohana nights to connect parents/guardians, students, and
teachers with past, current, and future events of the charter school through project showcases,
hands-on trainings, and workshops; and
WHEREAS, Ke Kula '0 Nawahiokalani'opu'u is in need of funds for necessary
expenses for their `ohana nights, including, but not limited to, refreshments, public address
system, transportation for field trips, and other related equipment and supplies; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to `Aha Punana Leo, Inc., to assist with
expenses related to `ohana nights at Ke Kula '0 Nawahiokalani'opu'u charter school; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
