HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 329 Draft 01 2014-2016 051 OS M �i COUNTY OF HAWAII ' • � '!�* STATE OF HAWAII '=ewe 1 T�OFM►�►'' RESOLUTION NO. 329 15 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE ANEKONA OULI KANEHOA VFD COMPANY WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal Revenue Code; and WHEREAS, the Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department wishes to provide $40,000 to the Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company; and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used towards the development and implementation of a volunteer fire station in Kamuela, Hawaii; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, the Hawaii Fire Department is authorized to provide a grant of$40,000 to the Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company to develop and implement a volunteer fire station in Kamuela, Hawaii. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, and the Hawaii Fire Department.
