RESOLUTION NO. 342 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET
FOR THE NANAWALE FOOD PANTRY.
WHEREAS, The Food Basket is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that feeds the
disadvantaged people in Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket works with the Bodacious Women of Pahoa, a group of
women based in Puna who are focused on helping the community through food distribution and
emergency preparedness; and
WHEREAS, the Bodacious Women of Pahoa, with the help of private donations and
fundraising, purchases food from The Food Basket to operate a monthly food pantry based in
Nanawale Estates to provide meals for 370 households located in subdivisions throughout Puna;
and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket is requesting funds to supply the Bodacious Women of
Pahoa with food for the Nanawale Food Pantry; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Food Basket to provide food to the
Bodacious Women of Pahoa for the Nana-wale Food Pantry; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
