RESOLUTION NO. 343 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET,
INC., TO ASSIST THE BODACIOUS WOMEN OF PAHOA WITH ITS EMERGENCY
FOOD SUPPLY AND NATURAL PREPAREDNESS INVENTORY FOR THE PUNA
RESIDENTS.
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose goals
include eradicating hunger on Hawaii Island through the redistribution of food to prevent waste
and collaborating with organizations with similar missions to eradicate the root of hunger and
other social ills, such as poverty; and
WHEREAS, one of the organizations that The Food Basket, Inc., collaborates with is the
Bodacious Women of Pahoa, a group of women in Pahoa that are focused on helping their
community through food distribution and natural emergency preparedness; and
WHEREAS, a financial need has been identified by members of the Bodacious Women
of Pahoa to increase its emergency food supply and natural preparedness inventory to meet the
needs of the residents in Puna, including, but not limited to, Hawaiian Beaches, Kapoho, Leilani
Estates, Black Sands, Kalapana, `Opihikao, and Nanawale Estates; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc., to assist the
Bodacious Women of Pahoa with its emergency food supply and natural preparedness inventory
to meet the needs of the Puna residents; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
