Resolution 326-15
My name is John Winter. I am a resident of North Kohala and live very near Niulii and the
properties under consideration for purchase by the County. I therefore support Resolution
326-15 calling for the start of negotiations by the County to purchase the lands at Halelua.
I believe this corridor is very important to preserve. It's time we preserve the Kula Iwi, the
homelands of Kamehameha and the places from which he began the unification of the islands.
The area has a rich cultural heritage and my family go there often for walks. The Kohala
community has repeatedly identified this as an important area for recreation. All three of these
properties have been among the top priority lands for purchase with the Open Space Fund for
several years. Thank you for considering my input.
