all the animals who can't speak for themselves
Hello,
I am writing this testimony on Behalf of the animals who don't have a voice. The tens of thousands of
adoptable animals that are euthanized on the Big Island each year when they could have been adopted into
loving families. I was visiting your beautiful Island with my family just last month and came across information
for Big Island Dog Rescue. I contacted them and volunteered to chaperon animals back on my flight back to
Seattle, which was happening in 4 days from when I first made contact. Unfortunately that was not enough
time for them to secure the animals, get health certs. etc to make it on my flight. However they were able to
get 3 lucky dogs back on my parents flight the following day to Portland and all 3 of those dogs were adopted
with"in a day of landing there!! I only wish that I had been able to do more and I know that if there was a
better system in place with BIDR and the HIHS that more adoptable animals would be able to be saved.
I will admit that "zero kill" seems a little crazy even to me but we are all on the same team here right!? We all
love animals and want to save as many as possible. So, why not at least try for zero kill and reduce that
number every year. I know we can do better. There 'are people all around the country who are willing and able
to help, myself included. 'So let's do better together! It seems to me that people are just uninformed. I don't
under stand why any "animal lover" would oppose Tasi or the Big Island Dog Rescue and what they are trying
to accomplish and WILL accomplish if changes are made and everyone works together to help save the
animals!
