RESOLUTION NO. 354 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PUNA
COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER FOR THE MEDIVAN FEASIBILITY
DEMONSTRATION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Puna Community Medical Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that provides high quality health care that is community based and readily accessible to residents
and visitors of Puna; and
WHEREAS, as of December 4, 2015, the Puna Community Medical Center has begun
parking its mobile health-care vehicle (Medivan) at Kalani Honua from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the
first and third Friday of each month as a one-year feasibility demonstration project to provide
health care to residents who live along the Puna coast; and
WHEREAS, the Puna Community Medical Center requests funds to assist with expenses
directly related to the Medivan Feasibility Demonstration Project, such as costs to operate the
vehicle, salaries and wages, outreach, medical suppplies and equipment, and other expenses; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Puna Community
Medical Center to assist with costs associated with the Medivan Feasibility Demonstration
Project; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
