Re: Resolution for multi-year lease of real property
The County of Hawai`i has control and management of the 24.947 acre parcel via
Executive Order 3773 and identified by Tax Map Key (3) 2-3-026:008. The Hawai`i
County Economic Opportunity Council, a nonprofit organization, has obtained funding to
develop a self-sustainable botanical garden, visitor center and related uses on the sight,
and has requested to lease a 2.263 acre portion for these purposes. The County of
Hawai`i has no planned use of this area, also known as the "Old Job Corps" site.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Director of Finance to negotiate a 10-year lease
of the real property described above (with renewal options for two additional 10-year
terms) to the Hawai`i County Economic Opportunity Council.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Hamana Ventura from the
Finance Department's Property Management Division at 961-8009.
