Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members: `^
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms.Ann Kern to the Kailua Village Design Commission.
Ms. Kern is an 18 -year resident of Hawaii. She is the lead interpreter at the Kona Historical
Society's H.N. Greenwell Store and the Kailua Village Walking tour, and the Director of
KHS's Hanohano o Kona Lecture series. She will be serving as one of the two required
members of KVDC with knowledge of historic Kona, and its resources and cultural values.
Ms. Kern was confirmed to serve on this commission in January, 2015 to fill the remainder of
a term ending on December 31, 2015. Hawaii County Charter Section 13-4(c), stales that
..members of any board or commission appointed for a term of two years or less shall be
eligible to succeed themselves for an additional full term." If Ms. Kern is confirmed today,
she will serve a 3 -year term to end on December 31, 2018.
