RESOLUTION NO. 369 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PA'A PONO MILOLI`I
TO ASSIST MILOLI`I FISHING VILLAGE WITH ADDRESSING THE DENGUE
OUTBREAK.
WHEREAS, Pa'a Pono Miloli`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is
to preserve and protect the culture, history, environment, archaeological sites, and heritage of
various ahupua'a in South Kona and Ka`u; and
WHEREAS, Pa'a Pono Miloli`i has been taking an active collaborative role with the
Civil Defense Agency in assisting Miloli`i Fishing Village residents by conducting door-to-door
inquiries and home site inspections to determine the needs of the Miloli`i Fishing Village
residents directly impacted by the dengue outbreak; and
WHEREAS, Pa'a Pono Miloli`i has determined that various materials and supplies are
needed to implement preventative measures to reduce impacts of the recent dengue outbreak in
the Miloli`i Fishing Village; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, funds will be used to purchase materials and supplies necessary to engage
in preventative measures, reduce and eliminate the breeding of mosquitoes, and assist the
Miloli`i Fishing Village community in the "fight the bite campaign"; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Civil Defense Agency to provide a grant to Pa'a Pono Miloli`i to aid in addressing the
dengue fever outbreak in Miloli`i Fishing Village; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Civil Defense Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
