Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Riley W. Smith, to the Hawai'i County Liquor
Adjudication Board. Mr. Smith is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He is President of
Lanihau Properties. Mr. Smith recently completed a 4 '/2 year term as a member of the
Hawai'i County Liquor Commission.
Mr. Smith is currently the president of the North Hawai'i Rotary and the Kailua Village
Business Improvement District. He is a member of the South Kohala CDP Steering
Committee and the Committee Chair of the Kona Kohala Chamber Environmental
Committee. Mr. Smith states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, he will serve a will serve a term that ends on December 31, 2020, replacing
Claude Onizuka, whose term expired in December, 2015.
